Company Beer Description

“Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.”

Pouring / Tasting / Reflection

This light saison pulls off the hat trick of being deeply sour and dry, yet succulent and juicy all in the same mouthful. A lemon-lime tanginess persists in a very long finish. However, the Brett characteristics are far more intricate than the citrus profile. The cask barreling is very light, hardly noticeable. All told, this is less a saison than a compendium of sour ale qualities that evolve in the glass. I recommend this for a reflective hour in the back yard or on the porch.
